TOPEKA, KAN. (Sept. 3, 2013) – A group exercise event designed to introduce the public to the HEAT Up Topeka wellness program is set for 9-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library. The HEAT is a free community wellness program offering 10 group fitness classes per week, nutrition education, insight into the mind-body connection and ongoing social support for anyone’s wellness journey. It is sponsored by Florence Crittenton through a grant from United Way of Topeka. The program supports United Way’s goal of reducing obesity among adults by 10 percent.
The HEAT-a-thon offers back-to-back marathon of low intensity interval, kickboxing, Zumba® fitness, high intensity interval, and yoga activities. Participants may join in and take breaks throughout the event which promises a casual, welcoming and non-competitive environment.
The HEAT-a-thon is a great way to meet the program’s instructors and learn more about the program which already serves 500 Topekans. Check out the website to see the monthly schedule of classes, read the Mind & Body Newsletter, view Taste and See videos, recipes and more at www.flocritkansas.org.
