3rd Annual Mater Dei Irish Fest Activities
[Topeka, KS] Whether you have Irish in your veins or in your heart, you won’t want to miss the 3rd annual Mater Dei Irish Fest activities. This year’s celebration includes two main events, both on Saturday, March 15, in Downtown Topeka.
First, there will be a 5K Fun Run/1.5M Walk and a Leprechaun Leap (for children under 10) at Mater Dei Assumption Church (NW corner of 8th and Jackson) beginning at 9 a.m. (registration begins at 7:30 a.m.) The entry fee of $25 includes a t-shirt, goodie bag, raffle prizes and green pancakes after the race. The Mater Dei Irish Fest celebration also begins at 9 a.m. at 8th and Jackson. The traditional Irish Sing-a-long begins at 10 a.m. inside Assumption Church with Mass beginning at 10:30. The St. Patrick’s Day parade, which passes by 8th and Jackson, begins at high noon. Festivities before, during and after the parade include a beer garden, homemade Irish and American food, Irish music provided by Powerhouse DJ’s and activities for children.
