Volunteers of Keep America Beautiful-Topeka/Shawnee County will plant and dedicate the "Garden of Hope" on Monday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m. at 225 NE Laurent.
Kansas ranks 50th in connecting kids to summer nutrition programs. One in five kids in Shawnee county lives under the poverty line. Keep America Beautiful and Silverbackks volunteers want to help. Produce from the Garden of Hope will benefit Topeka Rescue Mission and the hungry in Topeka and Shawnee County.
Special thanks to Industrial Chrome, Inc. for allowing us to plant on their property; to Don Lynn for originating the garden; Pat the Plumber, for installing the water hydrant; Mike Holthaus for tilling; and Topeka Community Foundation for providing the grant to make this possible.
We invite everyone to join us in our fight against hunger in Shawnee County. To help with the garden or other volunteer projects, please contact Keep America Beautiful-Topeka/Shawnee County at 785.224.0446 -or- e-mail email@example.com
