Topeka Performing Arts Center will host its annual Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays event November 16ththrough November 18th.
Graham Cracker Junction, the Holiday Boutique and Sweet Tooth Lane are the main attractions of this grass roots fundraiser. Graham Cracker Junction is where children of all ages can build their own gingerbread house out of graham crackers, icing, and candy. The Holiday Boutique offers holiday crafts, ornaments and jewelry for sale. Sweet Tooth Lane features homemade candy and baked goods and treats from local pastry chefs and caterers to take home or enjoy at the Holiday Café.
Professional and aspiring bakers generously donate Gingerbread creations for the silent auction. Judges choose the top three houses in each category. The top three overall winners will receive cash awards. The first place winner will receive $200; second place will receive $150 and third place $75. The winners will be recognized Friday evening at 6:00PM. All the homes will be on display throughout the weekend.
Proceeds from Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays benefit the Topeka Performing Arts Center’s Youth education programs; including Sheffel Theater Clinic & Schooltime Theater.
Tickets are available at the door for $3/per person and $2/per person for groups of 6 or more. Event times are Friday, November 16th – 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, November 17th – 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Sunday, November 18th – 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
