3rd Annual, HEARTLAND BLADESMITHING SYMPOSIUM & KNIFE SHOW

The American Bladesmith Society, Inc announces that they will be conducting the 3rd Annual Heartland Bladesmithing Symposium & Knife Show on October 6th, and 7th, 2012 at the Washburn Institute of Technology, 5724 S. W. Huntoon Street, Topeka, Kansas.
This Expo is for the knife enthusiast, knife collector and knife maker, from beginner to Master. Knifemaking demonstrations are provided for registered attendees. The knife show, auction and cutting demonstration are admission free and open to the public. Featured will be instruction and demonstrations by ABS Master Smiths and Journeyman Smiths from Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska, Alabama and Texas.
The Cutting Demonstration features demonstrators and attendees using knives 15” or less in length with a blade no longer than 10” to complete challenging cuts.
The demonstrations for the registrants will include clay tempering a blade to create a hamon line, welding damascus steel, blade finishing with cork and leather belts, basic metallurgy, Little Giant trip-hammer information, basic lathe and milling machine instruction and knifemaker recognition. There will also be a "Round Table" question and answer time Sunday morning, on knifemaking topics.
