United Way announces Summer of Service for Youth Volunteer Corps
TOPEKA, KAN. – The Youth Volunteer Corps of Greater Topeka has scheduled 24 days of service projects for June and July as part of its Summer of Service. Youth ages 11 to 18 are invited to serve on one or more of the projects planned at several local nonprofits.
“We are encouraging youth in Shawnee County to spend a portion of their summer vacation making a difference in their community,” said Kim Ribelin, director of YVC of Greater Topeka. “They will be joining forces with thousands of other youth volunteers throughout the country who will be serving with Youth Volunteer Corps this summer.”
Youth will serve primarily in the mornings on various days of the week at local organizations. Limited space is available on some projects, so youth are encouraged to sign up quickly.
Interested youth may email YVC@unitedwaytopeka.org or call (785) 228--5123 for more information.
