The new construction has also allowed for the installation of equipment, lighting, and refrigeration cases, which feature leading-edge designs.  This new store will use 15% less energy per square foot than an average Dillons store and 25% less energy per square foot than a Dillons store did in the year 2000.  A few upgrades include:

  • Lighting:  Automated lighting system and motion sensors have been installed to maintain an energy-efficient schedule.  Motion-activated LED lighting systems have also been used in the frozen food cases.  Overhead skylights also provide added natural lighting.
  • Cooling:  An innovative program to electronically control the store’s refrigeration and heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems has been installed.  New high-efficiency fan motors also use less electricity to keep food chilled to proper temperatures.  An efficient heat recovery system also heats our air, keeping shoppers comfortable while saving energy.
  • Building materials:  Open-ceiling design has greatly reduced the amount of building materials needed.  Polished concrete floors installed will also require less maintenance and chemical cleaning solvents.
