Welcome to Country Legends 106.9, I appreciate you visiting the online home of our station.
I’m Jim Allan, General Manager of Country Legends 106.9. I have been interested in radio from the first time I ever stepped foot into a studio, when in college at Kansas State University. Back then; basketball was the sport, not Football. (Yeah… the late 80’s.)
Radio is an exhilarating business to be in, there's constantly something new happening and always a different angle to explore. It’s a rewarding feeling to influence and make a difference with such a diverse number of people, each in a different way. Radio advertising is a very powerful marketing tool, capable of captivating audiences anywhere, anytime! Radio is a very intimate marketing medium that can make the difference in how successful a business is and will become! With the right marketing plan, radio gets results!
Personally, I’ve lived in Topeka since January of 1989. I’ve worked for one other radio station as well as a local retail business. This is my second go-around at 106.9, as I served as the Sales Manager in the late 90’s. I also have been a Washburn University adjunct since 2008.
I enjoy lending a helping hand in our community. That’s why I’ve held seats on many boards like Big Brother Big Sisters of Topeka, Topeka Advertising Federations, and most recently, The American Red Cross.
I've been fortunate enough to win the Distinguished Sales and Marketing Award (in radio), I was the recipient of the Presidents Award from Big Brothers and Big Sisters and was awarded 4th place in membership with the American Advertising Federation. I have also received a degree in Certified Radio Marketing and Manager of Radio Marketing from an outstanding set of courses sponsored by Chris Lytle. In 2009 I had the honor of winning the KAB Mike Oatman award, for outstanding achievement in Kansas broadcast sales, sales management and mentoring others to sales success.
Some of my hobbies include working out, playing golf, going out to eat, watching the Kansas State Wildcats, and coaching my son's basketball and baseball teams. I have 3 wonderful children, Riggs, Emma and Tessa.
